Over my 10 years’ experience I have specialised in large-scale instrument restoration and making new instruments. In this time I have worked on many fine old instruments by makers such as Testore, Gagliano, Maggini, Bergonzi and Landolfi. Working on such beautiful examples of instruments has helped me to develop an eye for styles of making which I can incorporate in my own making. After training at the violin making school in Mittenwald, I worked in workshops in France and England (Philip Brown Violins in Newbury) before establishing my own workshop in Strasbourg, France.

Classical bows are a current mainstay of production too. We have a workshop in Newbury (70 km form London).

I love the scent of wood and feel the warmth to the touch and feel the life that animates it. I love the curves and the elegant shape of the instruments and the research in their soft flow, the harmony of the proportions. By making and repairing stringed instruments, allow me to fully experience this passion. To do this, I chose the long road of research, comparison, experimentation to grow slowly, but solidly.

Author of 'The Art of Recambering a Bow' (avaliable on Medium) and 'Rediscovering the Deepest Secrets of Bowmaking' (to be published this spring). I am a Lincoln-based bow maker crafting violin, viola, and cello bows in the French tradition, inspired by Dominique Peccatte, François Tourte, and Eugène Sartory. Using top-quality pernambuco, I aim to capture the playing characteristics of these masters.

My journey began at the Newark School of Violin Making, where I combined passions for woodworking and engineering. Mentored by ex-Hill bowmakers John Stagg and Tim Baker, I honed my craft, creating bows and tools with precision, supported by silversmithing and engineering skills developed post-graduation.
